Spend the week building and programming a Lego Mindstorms robot to complete a number of themed mechanical challenges on an integrated competition mat. At the end of the week, you will compete with your fellow roboteers to score as many points as possible within 4 minutes. A prize will be awarded for the most successful attempt. Challenges include building demolition, door unlocking and entering, accurate parking, goal scoring, slalom, animal rescue and many more (12 on this season’s mat).
Participants will learn how to blend mechanical design with appropriate software to solve specific problems, taking on sophisticated techniques along the way, such as how to use a colour sensor to follow lines and a gyro sensor to correct for motor variations; both essential for accurate and efficient navigation.
No prior knowledge of robotics or coding is assumed.
Just a packed lunch and any drinks and snacks they will need to get them through the day (no nuts please!).
